Joensuu government agency building

Joensuu government agency building serves as the centre of local government and provides a wide range of facilities and services for public administration actors.

Renovation transformed Kauppakatu 40 into a contemporary shared work environment for several central government agencies. The building was also converted into a shared service facility for several government agencies. Operations started in the building in February 2023.

The Finnish Government Shared Services Centre for Finance and HR (Palkeet), the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY) for North Karelia, Customs, the Regional State Administrative Agency for Eastern Finland, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, the National Land Survey of Finland, the Finnish Tax Administration, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, Business Finland and the Finnish Consumer and Competition Authority use the renovated government agency building.

The government agency building in Joensuu was the first government agency building of regional councils of central cities to have a shared work environment and shared customer service point. The government agency building is part of the renewal of central government’s service and premises network which aims to bring together central government in-person services into joint customer service points by 2030.
